I wanted to expand my skills and understanding of acrylic painting and so joined Katrina’s evening classes. Katrina taught familiar subjects and gave me the confidence to try the more unfamiliar and on some summer evenings we even painted en plein air. The lessons were enjoyable, friendly and Katrina gave bags of encouragement and made everyone feel very welcome. My painting has definitely improved as a result of my time spent with Katrina and I would highly recommend people going to her lessons.

COURSE CONTENT

September 2024 is the first of the art school year’s 'six weeks' and will be dedicated to colour. We will explore several restrictive paint pallets while referencing contemporary and historical artists whose work is all about colour, including, Leonid Afremov and Henri Matisse.

Term 2: ‘Realism to Abstraction through Turner Skies’. Cont exploring colour, ground paint application:

January to Easter Break : ‘The Many Faces of Picasso’.

Summer Terms: ‘Light & Fun’ The Impressionists.

We will also explore application of paint using different tools to achieve different effects. A fast pace fun and informative weekly session. Most weeks you will take home a new piece of work.

You will be given handouts to accompany the course for your future reference.

All materials provided for the course.

Materials list for you to purchase your own tool kit should you wish to do so.

Refreshments include; beverage of choice & biscuit.

Katrina is always happy to critique and support remotely if you wish to practice any techniques at home in your own time.

Spring Term: The Many Faces of Picasso.

Session 1: Jan 9th, 2: 16th 3: 23rd, 4: 30th, 5: Feb 6th, 6: 13th

Half Term: Feb 20th, No Class.

Session 1: Feb 27th, 2: March 6th, 3: 13th, 4: 20th, 5: 27th, 6: April 3rd.

Easter Break: April 10th, 17th No Class.

Summer Term: Light The Impressionists.

(I may add and change this as we have studies the Impressionists a lot).

Session 1: April 24th, 2: May 1st, 3: 8th, 4: 15th, 5: 22nd,

Half Term: April 29th, No Class.

Session 6: June 5th.

Session 1: June 12th, 2: 19th, 3: 26th, 4: July 3rd, 5: 10th, 6: 17th.

There will be an Art School exhibition and this year I am asking all my students to take part. More info to come. :)

Also we will have an Art School Summer Party Dates to be confirmed. :)

Fees are broken up into six week block. If you miss a session you are welcome to join Thursday morning Art Coffee Chat as a replacement.

X 6 sessions = £102 includes materials and refreshments.
