I have been attending the Foundation class at the Art School Cheddar for five years. During this time I have experienced painting with acrylic and watercolour, collage, printing and working in 3D. Mark Making Workshop
Day 1:
10.00 am: Introductions and overview of the course by Peter Robertson.
(Refreshments will be supplied Fresh ground coffee or beverage of choice & biscuits)
PR Demonstration: Mark making using compressed charcoal, biro, fine line pen and Indian ink using paint brushes, pipette and palette knife.
11.00am - 1pm (approx)
En Plein Air: Sketching outside using the techniques demonstrated above. PR will demonstrate to everyone before participants start their own work, giving individual support throughout the session. The aim is to have 6 large sketches each ready for the afternoon’s work.
Return for lunch. (Either book a local pub or cafe or bring a packed lunch).
2pm - 4.00pm (approx)
PR will demonstrate how to re-compose the sketches and mount in a sketchbook.
Participants create their own re-composed sketches. PR will give individual support.
4pm End of Day
PLEASE BRING A LARGE SKETCHBOOK (A2 OR A3) AND A SMALLER ONE (A3 OR A4) TO MOUNT YOUR RE-COMPOSED SKETCHES.
All other materials will be provided.
Day 2
10.00am: PR Demonstration, mark making using compressed charcoal, biro, fine line pen, Indian ink and a limited acrylic paint, using paint brushes, pipette and palette knife.
(Refreshments will be supplied Fresh ground coffee or beverage of choice & biscuits)
11am -1.00pm (approx)
Sketching outside using the techniques demonstrated this morning and developing all that was assimilated yesterday. PR will demonstrate before participants start their own work. Again, each participant will need at least 6 large sketches.
Return for lunch. (Either book a local pub or cafe or bring a packed lunch).
2.00pm - 4.00pm (approx)
PR will demonstrate how to re-compose today’s sketches and mount in a sketchbook.
Participants start to re-compose their own sketches. PR to give individual support.
